As
Bible believers, we subscribe to the following beliefs:
• The Bible is the inspired and infallible
Word of God.
• There is one God, manifest in three
persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our heavenly Father
personally cares for us. Jesus, His Son came to earth by virgin
birth, sinless, doing miracles, obedient unto death for the
atoning of our sins by His blood. He rose from the dead and
ascended into heaven. He will return to earth in power and
glory. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter sent by Jesus to indwell,
guide, illuminate, and teach the believer. He is the Spirit
of Truth (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew
28:19).
• Man was made in the image of God but
fell into sin (Gen. 1:26-31; 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21). Man's
only hope of being free of the punishment of that sin is through
faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus Christ took the
punishment for our sin when He was crucified on the cross.
He reconciled man unto God. Salvation (being forgiven of our
sins and receiving the gift of eternal life) is done through
God's favor. Nothing we can do makes us worthy to receive
it. It is received by faith in what Jesus has done for us
on the cross.
The true church are those who receive this free gift of forgiveness
and eternal life, and choose to serve God, the Father, Son
and Holy Spirit and make Him their Lord. We receive Christ
by faith and in doing so, become born again by the Spirit
of God. The Word of God says we are then adopted into the
family of God.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit and ministry positions are given
to the church (I Corinthians 12:7-11; 27-28), to equip the
body of Christ for the work of the Great Commission. We believe
in the unity of true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and
that we are commanded to love one another (John 13:34-35;
15:12; I John 4:7-8; Galatians 6:10).
Water baptisms should be observed by all who have repented
of their sins and in their hearts believe on Christ as Savior
and Lord. It is an outward symbol and declaration of faith
in Christ.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire is a gift of God (Matthew
3:11), promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers and
is given after salvation (John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 2:4;
38-39; 10:44-48). It is given to empower a Christian to live
a victorious life and to proclaim the Gospel of the kingdom
of God with supernatural signs following them.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are still in operation to build
up the church (I Corinthians 12). All gifts reside and can
be used in the Spirit-filled believer. They are exercised
by the will of the Holy Spirit.
Holiness is the will of God for all believers (I Peter 1:16)
and should be pursued by walking in obedience to God's Word.
Holiness is a progressive work of grace by the Holy Spirit
that is ongoing throughout a believer's life.
Ministry of men and women that is called forth by God has
a two-fold purpose: (1) the evangelism of the world and (2) the
edifying of the body of Christ (Mark 16:15-20; Ephesians
4:11-13). Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers
prepare the saints for the work of the ministry.
The resurrection of those who have physically died as believers
and those who are alive when Jesus Christ returns will be
translated together. This is the hope of all believers (I
Thessalonians 4:16-18; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; I Corinthians
15:51-52; Revelation 11:15).
The devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet,
and whoever is not a believer shall be judged to everlasting
punishment in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death (Rev 19:20; Rev 20:10-15). Without
Christ, one is eternally lost (Hebrews 9:27; Matthew 25:41-46).
We according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new
earth wherein dwells righteousness (II Peter 3:13; Revelation
21:2).
